Goal 1

Increase the percentage of students K-6 that are reading on grade level by 3%, using the DIBELS beginning of year and end of year benchmarks.

Students in K-6th  grade will be evaluated on the DIBELS reading assessment.

Teaching assistants for the Take-Home-Library and Read Naturally intervention are already in place. We will continue to fund the Take-Home-Library director to send books with K-3 students four nights a week. The books are on the students' independent reading level and parents sign-off that they are read each night in order for a new book to be sent. The TA responsible gives spot check incentives to motivate students to participate and return books. The Read Naturally TA pulls students that benefit from a Tier II intervention in fluency and comprehension to participate in the pull out intervention for 30 minutes daily. We pull 10 students in each grade level in grades 1-5 and they receive this intervention daily. As students make progress or reach well over their benchmark goals, new students are substituted for those that reach grade level performance in reading.

Goal 2

Through technology use, we will increase achievement on the SAGE summative, in math and reading, by 3%.

Teachers and students will be observed utilizing technology in the classroom in multiple subject areas and in a variety of ways. Our usage of Lexia and ALEKS will increase. Students in grade 3-4 will be participate in state approved keyboarding programs.

A Teacher Assistant will be hired to run our computer lab an additional 2.75 hours each day to instruct students in keyboarding, which will help students perform better on the SAGE ELA writing assessment. The TA will also help students meet usage on ALEKS (online math intervention) and LEXIA (online reading intervention).

Any excess funds will be used to purchase printers for the student mobile laptop labs or for classroom iPads for student use.
