School-Parent Compact
Dear Moroni School Community,
As your School Community Council, we are excited to help the families in the Moroni Elementary community come closer together and improve our school. This Parent-School guideline has been created to help each member of our school community know what is expected for the coming school year. Thank you for reading through this and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
School Responsibilities
Moroni Elementary will:
- Do our best to provide a good learning environment for all our students. We will be supportive and understanding of our students and meet them where they are at in their learning path.
- During parent-teacher conferences we will use language that helps you understand your students strengths and weaknesses and what we can all do to help them improve. Translation will be provided as needed.
- Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress and answer questions about that progress.
- Explain the rights of the parents in their child’s education at Back to School Night as well as in the disclosure statements sent home at the beginning of the year, in the home language.
- Help parents understand what the School Community Council is and help them get their voices and opinions heard in a setting that has power to make changes at the school.
- Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
- Provide and encourage parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and school.
- The Faculty/staff will enforce safety guidelines and procedures.
Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
- Make school attendance a priority.
- Make time for homework each night.
- Set reasonable limits on television and video gaming.
- Help where I can in my child’s classroom and school activities.
- Be aware of and invested in decisions relating to my children’s education.
- Communicate with the school by promptly reading notices from the school and responding, as appropriate. Keep contact information up to date on Powerschool.
- Attend School Family Events including Back to School Night and Parent Teacher Conferences.
- We will follow the school’s safety and traffic plans.
Student Responsibilities
We, as students, will be actively engaged in our own learning and academic achievement. Specifically, we will:
- Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need it.
- Read at least 20 minutes every day after school.
- Give my parents/guardians all flyers and notes that my teacher gives me.
- I will be actively engaged in my own learning so I succeed.
- I will come to school everyday prepared to learn and with a good attitude.
We welcome and encourage family involvement. Opportunities include:
- Volunteering
- Attending school events
- Participating in Community Council and Title I meetings
