Moroni Elementary Community Council Meeting

March 12, 2024

In Attendance: Aaron Smith, Stacey Peterson, Kelly Patino

  1. The minutes from Feb. 6th were reviewed and approved as drafted.
  2. Digital Citizenship was discussed to clarify a question previously asked about filtering in multiple languages. Mrs. Peterson learned that Bark does filter in both English and Spanish, as does the district filter.
  3. School Traffic Plan- no further discussion was needed.
  4. Amendment to Current Plan

We are over by 23% (over the 10% allotment for the third year in a row). We need to spend $10,942.83 this school year and must create an amendment to our plan. Proposal is to cover the after school program costs and pay $10,000 for teachers/staff pay, $1,400 for buses/drivers. The budgets that have money to cover this can be carried over to the next school year. Aaron motioned that we amend the current plan as proposed. Kelly seconded the motion, and all voted in favor.

   5. Discuss upcoming year trust land plan (finalize and vote to approve)

Estimated Trustland distribution for 2024-2025 $74,402

6. Sign the council signature form- We will send this out to be signed after all members have been contacted.

7. Family Engagement and School Events

Digital Citizenship Night- April

Dance Festival- May

8. Community Concerns- The change of placement for students from Moroni Boundaries to attend Spring City was discussed. The question was how it impacts our school. It does impact Moroni in that students riding buses to Moroni will not arrive as early nor wait so long after school.
