Moroni Elementary Community Council Meeting

March 7, 2023


In attendance: Chelsea, Rhett, Aaron, Rylie, Desiree, and Stacey

The council reviewed the minutes from last month. Rhett motioned to approve and Stacey seconded.


Stacey presented the following
Trustland plan to the council for approval. Rylie motioned to approve and Rhett seconded.

The distribution was increased from $66,000 to $70,751. The goal is to increase student performance on Acadience Reading by 3.5% of students reading on grade level.

-The school does not have to pay a portion of the new iPads purchased.

-Teaching Assistants- if there is an increase in pay then $63,000

-Excess funds 

-Teacher/Staff iPad replacements are $375 per device. These will be replaced as needed, 5 per year, with the oldest devices being the priority for replacement.

-Classroom headphones for iPads are $130 per dozen.


The council approved the following items for
TSSA. Rhett motioned to approve and Stacey seconded.
The school has allocated approximately $18,000, there is approximately $30,000 carryover.

-Keyboards for iPads- $9500

-After School club snacks- $1500

-Teacher Morale- $2300

Next week is self-care week

-Student Birthday- $850

Treats, monthly birthday cake

-IXL 6th grade (both Spanish and ELA) $17 per student- $750

-Generation Genius Science- $1300

-Generation Genius Math- $1300

-Mystery Science- $1400

This was previously paid for by District funds.

-Net Positive- Assembly and Lesson Plans- $600

-Reading A to Z- $3500

Used for small group instructional time.

-Room Dividers for Lower Commons- $5000

-Skills Coach- through AmeriCorps $9000

Will hire a full time skills coach next year.

-Bluetooth microphone headsets (1 set per classroom) $250/set- $3000

Total $48,000


The school has applied for a STEM grant to have an after school program. If we do not get the grant, Stacey will find out how much it would cost to run an after school program. Will set aside $8000 for our program.


The council signature form will be typed up and an email will be sent to each council member to sign it electronically.


Stacey will share the
School-Parent Compact in faculty meeting and email the council if it has been approved or any changes need to be made.

upcoming school events

-Stem Fair, March 8

-Teacher/Staff Self Care Week, March 13-17

-Books and Bingo, March 16 at 6:00pm

-School Music Concert, March 23 at 6:00pm

-Digital Citizenship Week, still working on details but will take place in April

-Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1-5

-Dance Festival, May 17 at 6:00pm

-District Track Meet, May 15 at the high school for grades 4-6

-Community Night, May 15 from 5:30-7:30


Community Concerns

-Teacher crosswalk duties

-How to encourage reading at home. Desiree will ask her friend in SLC to see what they do. Aaron suggested a school-wide book to read at home, which has proved effective in other districts. Could have 6th grade students read and record books for kids to listen to at home.


Stacey motioned to adjourn the meeting. Rhett seconded and Aaron adjourned the meeting.
