In attendance: Stacey Peterson, Becky Barton, JD and Emilee Kuchenmeister, Camie Talbot. Absent: Kami Millett and Katie Gleave
Emilee Kuchenmeister was nominated by Stacey Peterson to serve as the Community Council Chairman, JD Kuchenmeister seconded the nomination and all voted in favor. Becky Barton was nominated by JD to serve as the secretary and Camie Talbot seconded the motion all voted in favor. The rules of order and procedures (Norms) were reviewed and approved with a motion by Becky Barton and seconded by Camie all were in favor.
Member information was collected to be shared with the State Community council and to be placed on the website. The website and training videos were discussed and members were asked to watch the videos before we meet next month. A calendar of future meetings was shared and roles and responsibilities were discussed.
The Land Trust Plan for the 2020-2021 school year was shared and discussed. The majority of Moroni’s monetary distribution goes toward teaching assistants and the council discussed how they help and serve the students at Moroni Elementary. Mrs Barton gave an example of her schedule for interventions and enrichment activities that the teaching assistant helps with. The TSSA budget was shared- a teaching assistant is paid from this budget along with online reading materials and science resources.
The PTA shared that they are currently looking for a board and that they are looking at how to provide activities within the guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Some ideas for money to be spent on are jump ropes, new or different PE equipment, and other recess activities for students. Evening Zoom meetings were discussed to try to get more parent involvement. An idea was shared to host a cultural evening to try to include more of our Hispanic parents.
Community concerns were the Friday release time some were in favor and others would prefer to go back to 2:30 release time. Parent Drop-off and Pick-up was discussed and tabled to be discussed at the next meeting. Stacey moved to adjourn the meeting and Camie seconded the motion.
