Camie made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting and Emilee approved the motion all were in favor.

The Child Safety Routing plan was shared and discussed. Parent Drop-off and Pick-up concerned from the last meeting were discussed. Some suggestions given to make this safer for students included teachers walk students out and stay for 2-3 minutes, North side- loading zone (nearest playground), Use a map or aerial photo to show how to come and leave (traffic flow), Principal in the morning and afternoon, 2-3 teachers per duty, and stop only at the end of the lane. The PTA discussed possibly donating money or helping to get work donated to install a gate that blocks the road similar to Mt. Pleasant Elementary. The new plan with any changes for parents will be released via flyer, email, Facebook, and school website.

The council will review and discuss the School Safety and Digital Citizenship in sections at each meeting. The school had a virtual NetSmartz assembly this month to teach kids internet safety. Stacey will send a newsletter to parents with the same information. An idea was shared to send a reminder to parents about not using their devices while waiting in the car to pick up their children because it can be unsafe with children walking around. Bark device monitoring has been in place for 2 weeks and has already analyzed over 91,000 online student activities at our school with 0 alerts of unsafe activity. It was shared that our school is almost at their goal of 1 to 1 devices. Another goal has been to have students on devices more often in class so that in the event of a COVID shutdown students will be more comfortable transitioning to online learning.

Stacey explained testing and goals and how the results are used to determine necessary interventions and allocation of funds. There weren’t any state reports to review because testing was cancelled due to school closure in the Spring. There will be new data to review in January.

The Parent Compact was discussed and members were asked to read it before the next meeting and look for necessary updates and clarifications to be added.

The PTA shared the upcoming monthly activities which include Virtual Paint Night in November, Santa visiting the school in December, and Red Ribbon week in January.

The community concerns were regarding mask usage in the school. The faculty held a special meeting this week to discuss mask rules and enforcement.

JD moved to adjourn the meeting and Camie seconded the motion.
